Switzerland sheds little used Pilatus PC-24 VIP transport jet

By Defense Brief Editorial - October 10, 2022

The Swiss armaments agency armasuisse has sold its single Pilatus PC-24 business jet
after less than three years of service with the Swiss Air Force.

The sale was concluded after the country’s Federal Council decided in February this year
to sell the jet due to little demand for the PC-24 from the various departments that had it at their disposal.

The aircraft’s high sales value due to its age and condition was also a factor that contributed to the decision.

According to armasuisse, JoyVida International AG submitted the best offer for the aircraft and will receive it by November 2022.

armasuisse also noted that the sales price exceeded the price it paid for the jet.

By the time it is handed over, the Pilatus PC-24 will have been restored to civilian standards and the military registration (T-786) will be deleted from the Air Force’s aircraft register.

The PC-24 has a maximum take off weight of 8,300 kg and a maximum range of close to 4,000 kg. It can be configured for a range of roles, including VIP and medical transport.

The Qatar Emiri Air Force, the only other military operator of the type with two PC-24s on order, plans to use it for pilot training and VIP transportation.
