Nellis AFB - Aviation Nation 2011
Aviation Nation took place on 12 and 13 November. As me and the missus happened to be in town in that week we decided to visit on the Saturday since the weather on that day looked to be the most promising.
On Sunday there would be a B-2 demo but also an almost complete overcast sky.
The show was traditionally opened by a para dropping (out of a Ramstein C-130J) and the singing of the national anthem by someone who would not make it through The Voice of America blind auditions.
Aviation Nation is build around themes and the first theme was WWII. Amongst these aircraft was this beautiful B-25.
It was followed by an impressive C-17 Globemaster demo.
Next theme was the Korean era with a Skyraider, MiG-15 and F-86
After that the airfield was under attack by some aggressor aircraft. F-16's and F-15's took off to defend the airspace.
Two DM A-10's took part in a close air support demo.
Then it was Phantom time finally. This Holloman bird took off from the far runway but made a fantastic full circle take-off.
Well actually, before the Phantom landed it took part in a nice past-to-present jet formation
The show ended with a Thunderbirds show. These are some of their signature passes.
This was just a small selection of all aircraft participating.

Re: Nellis AFB - Aviation Nation 2011
Here is a first selection of the static show at Aviation Nation.
Dutch pride in Las Vegas.
First I thought that the RAF had send a surprise delegate but then I noticed the civy registration.
Nice colours on this Aggressor F-16.
Head on with a B-2.
Warm evening light on this Rivet Joint and J-Stars
It does not happen too often that after 30 years of aircraft spotting I get to see about 10 aircraft types I have never seen before.
Some examples in a next upload.

You are probably right with your the era remark. The correct theme name was Heritage air-to-air and that covers for both Korea and Vietnam.

Re: Nellis AFB - Aviation Nation 2011
You are absolutely right. The B-25 lost some sharpness due to the fact that I shot it with low shutterspeed to get the propblur. It worked better with the Skyraider. Don't know what went wrong with the Aggressor F-16.tomba2247 wrote:Rene Klok wrote:Thanks for your comments.
