A very nice picture , Tom !tomh wrote:I'll let you do the unit identification on this F-102A, some of you will know it better than I. What do you think?
It does remind me of the days when the 32nd FIS at Soesterberg , here in the Netherlands ,was equipped with the Convair (T)F-102A Delta Dagger in the period 1960 to 1969 , although I myself visited the base not earlier than in 1965!
The one on your photo (56-1221) indeed belongs to the 526th FIS "The Black Knights"(USAFE) , which was stationed at Ramstein in Germany at the time. It had the Red-White-Red sunburst on the tail during 1960 to 1963.
By the way , the McDonnell RF-101C Voodoo next to the F-102A in your picture was assigned to the 17th TRS/66 TRW (USAFE), based at Laon in France at the time.
Best wishes !
Hans

Koen and Hans,
Thank you for the details. Some of those USAFE "Deuce" squadrons had F-86Ds earlier. Is the 526th one such unit?

Re: Cold War USAFE
I also have a question concerning posting matters , but I moved it to the About This Forum-topic on second thought . Thank you!
As a bonus a picture of another USAFE fighter : the F-102 Delta Dagger , which I (myself) took at Eindhoven in 1967....

A year later I took this RF-101C Voodoo at Brustem with a better camera than the one used on my previous post...!
