Pilot in hospital after plane crash-lands near Swindon

The plane, owned by Pete Marsden of The Boogie Club, was being used for a parachute jump

A pilot has been airlifted to hospital after his plane crash-landed near Swindon with eight passengers on board.

Police said the light aircraft came down near the Redlands airfield at Wanborough on Sunday morning.

None of the passengers was hurt. The pilot was flown to Great Western Hospital with a broken leg.

The plane was being used for a parachute jump. The incident is now being examined by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch.

The plane's owner, Pete Marsden, said the aircraft had been leased to a parachute club for a jump.

It was forced to land shortly after take-off.

The aircraft has been severely damaged and the area has been cordoned off.
