Req: Ecureuil operating out of RNethNavy base Amsterdam
Tuesday, Sep 21, around 1430 lt I saw an Ecureuil taking off from the Dutch Navy barracks in the centre of Amsterdam. It was equipped with a camera beneath the nose. I was in a tram and staring into the sun ( ) so I could not identify it. As I saw if flying over the port area later on, was it perhaps a Heli Holland bird operating for some government agency (Customs, Police)? Anyone?

As far as I know it should be the AS355F1 PH-HHC from Heli-Holland Holding BV. At the other side it is known that the PH-HHJ is camera equipped...so not really an answer to your question...anyone else?

Heli-Holland also uses their AS355's to train new Navy heli pilots. They make some hours on these twin turbine machines before going to the Lynx because the AS355's are less costly than the Lynx.
So it's more than possible that you saw one of those. Apparently there was no need/time to remove the camera?

I don't think they will go to the Lynx anymore, as the NH-90 is entering service now, and Lynx operations are dwindling very fast.A320 wrote:Heli-Holland also uses their AS355's to train new Navy heli pilots.
