A Russian warplane crashed on Saturday near the city of Lipetsk, but the two pilots ejected safely, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
According to Air Force spokesman Vladimir Drik, the Yak-130 jet crashed around 17:00 Moscow time near the Lipetsk Air Force training center.
The jet fell during take-off, the Interfax news agency reported.
The crash might be caused by "a technical defect or a pilot error," a source close to the investigation commission said.
