Re: Reims Meeting du centenaire 27/28 June
I haven´t got a answer. That is saying everything ...
From meetingair.fr:
I've noted the text in the pop up, and it said " Merci de renseigner Le champ" that means somthing like "Thank you for filling this form"!
No exactly : that means "You have to fill the field"
"They probably think: "foreigners can't read French, so we can get away with anything!". I got the same pop up, pity they don't have the balls to admit something was wrong. They probably think: "foreigners can't read French, so we can get away with anything!". I got the same pop up, pity they don't have the balls to admit something was wrong.
Of course, we have! and nothing was wrong!
People coming from Netherlands, Great-Britain, Switzerland, Belgium... filled the form and this field correctly and received an email.
Do they think, we are all stupid and can not read correctly??? "Merci de renseigner Le champ" is by no way meaning "You have to fill the field"!!!!!!
Very very poor management from their side ...

Hmm, my posting has gone. Maybe you should inform people if you do not want them to write something...?

Well, as I posted before but likely the browser did not send it (And to clearify, I did not ask for anything, and have no intention to visit this airshow):
1) Why does a homepage of an international airshow not provide an accreditation form in at least english language? Every other airshow does!?
2) Blaming others for own mistakes is embarrassing and fits to a small town airshow, not http://www.meetingair.fr/.." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Fact is the language for all(!) people was French. To defend this mistake with saying some foreigners were able to get accredited is just: LOL!
3) The discussion itself is senseless and beneath contempt. If they do not want you why don't you just stay at home? I would not really like to visit their airshow to be honest.

Re: Reims Spotters Day 26 June
You are right. This discusion will not bring any difference. I am only very disappointed about this ...
I can only speake for myself. I will definitely not go to Reims. I know, that would not be of concern for them, but its the ultimative, I can do. Besides that, there is also Zeltweg this days, with, like I know the Austrians, a lot more hospitality
Thank you all for your moral support!

Re: Reims Spotters Day 26 June
The organizers have written a longer statement on http://www.meetingair.fr/, but since I don't speak french (and therefore I didn't get in to the Spotters Day either ) I hope some of you might be able to translate for me.
Thanks in advance.

With Google translate you can 'read' every language:jaah wrote:The organizers have written a longer statement on http://www.meetingair.fr/, but since I don't speak french (and therefore I didn't get in to the Spotters Day either ) I hope some of you might be able to translate for me.
As you can see, the entries for the day spotter Reims are discussed. We will not put me in line all comments since a similar action almost spamming is underway.
So that the situation calms down, we took an important decision (some might say unfortunate), we will temporarily remove the comments and contact functions. We are the first unhappy.
For the second consecutive season, we strive to give you access conditions and optimal shooting.
We spend hours in and outside of our normal working time, you build a program, go to convince the authorities to handle requests ...
We thought it was passion: sharing knowledge and sometimes disappear for all to enjoy. We are wrong.
For some, we say some of the spotting has become a race where all shots are allowed. For them the spotter has become a day when he had only an opportunity.
Tonight we have a big heart and, indeed, many low morale. We will take a deep breath of fresh air, relax and we will return in a few days when the tension, hopefully, will be allayed.
To all those who love aviation and its atmosphere: thank you. For others, we have no particular message.
The organization of day spotter.

Re: Reims Spotters Day 26 June
Having read this thread three times, and having read the comments on http://www.meetingair.fr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; , I am deeply disappointed by the behaviour of some of our 'fellow' spotters.
The following is clear to me.
- If you are expecting people in other countries to always accomodate you in your own language, you have a lot of learning to do. Be happy with the help you get, try to adapt to your host for the rest.
- If you are not open to ways of saying things in other countries that differ from what you are used to, you have more learning to do. How about assuming the intentions are good, and thinking about how exactly something is meant? *
- If you have the nerve to attack organisers of an air force spotters day, who are in NO way obliged to accomodate anyone else than the tax payers of their home country, and put a lot of their spare time in the event just for sharing the love of aviation, you will probably never learn.
Comparing Reims to the commercial show of Zeltweg is ridiculous, apart from the same passion that is shared by the organisers of both events.
Erik
* A little help: the French usually do not bluntly say 'you have to do this', but they say 'thank you for doing so' instead. It is called politeness.

Dear Erik,
the problem was, that, as you have for sure understand by reading this tread three times, the was a problem with the software in the form.
If they said from the first time this problem occured, that we are sorry people, but there was a fault and many people who thought they had accredited themselve, will unfortunately not get a confirmation, I strongly believe that we would think that s..t happens and go on with life.
But, to put thinks right, they are calling us liers! The first option did not work!
If they are so polite, why not simple tell us, ok we are sorry, but we can not do anything? Why saying, that everything was fine?

Re: Reims Meeting du centenaire 27/28 June
Dear F17_114PM,
What I am understanding is, there was a misunderstanding about what exactly you had to do to register. Instead of asking themselves whether they interpreted the website correctly, some people saw no other option than pointing a finger at the organisation.
They do not think you are stupid, they are trying to explain what it means. They are not calling you a liar, they simply disagree with you and they mention all the successful registrations to demonstrate it did work.
Now my main point is: even if something was wrong on the side of the organisation (and all info I have indicates it was not), you simply do not offend them!! They are doing their best to offer you something you like, for free, just like that. They let in people from all countries and all it takes is some flexibility from the part of the visitors. What we see here is unfair criticism by people not able or willing to step down and look at the matter from a different perspective. Even worse: accusations are made, non-existing rights are claimed. The result? The folks in France are very frustrated and disappointed by this, and will think twice before opening spotters day applications again to anyone. Thanks a lot.

Re: Reims Spotters Day 26 June
Unfortunately I think the reason why so many people have been upset, including the organisers, is that the underlying issue is that demand for this event was always going to be out-stripped by the small number of places and now this has lead to squabbling because so many people were desperate for a chance to attend and there was confusion on the site about the actual procedure (for some).
On their homepage the organisers explained their reasons for only 150 places, but I think they should have re-considered this in light of the importance of the event (as I stated in an earlier post). In addition, English is probably regarded as most people`s second language so it seems quite strange that this was not included.
Very sad it`s turned out like this.

Re: Reims Spotters Day 26 June
Dear Erik,
thank you very much for your opinion. You are right, maybe I was a little bit aggresiv. If so, I apologise.
But about the procedure, I insist on what I have said. You can see, that by choosing the first option nothing happened. Now, with this message appearing, what should anyone understand?
You had the form before you on the screen, your personal data was ok and you had choosed the right date. And then, this message appeared! From this message, at least I and a lot of other people I know (in different countries!) don´t understand that something was wrong!
Ok, maybe it was our failure but, at least you must agreed, not 100%!!! If the message was a simple error message, a lot more people would be very happy by now
But, in my opinion, it´s better to stop spaming this great plattform with this discussion
Many greetings
Marcus
P.S.: Out of curiosity, why this attack against Zeltweg? I thought, it´s about enjoying good company, weather and aviation and it doesn´t matter if you catch only 5 or 50 planes. But, that´s just my personal opinion, no offense

Re: Reims Spotters Day 26 June
If you have visited some of the good French spotter days the last couple of years, you would have known that you can get very good photo opportunities during that day. These are totally different then those on a mass events like Kleine Brogel (still have great respect for them for what they are offering!). You can't get both, unfortunately. For instance, laying on the tarmac of the ramp while the aircraft are taxying, I haven't seen that on a spotter day outside France.
For most Dutch people English is their second language, for most other people not!

Re: Reims Spotters Day 26 June
I assume you must be right about that. I am just as sure the staff in France would have been happy to receive tips like this, in a constructive manner. They have shown clearly they are willing to put effort into accomodating people from everywhere. Anyway, it's settled now.F17_114PM wrote:If the message was a simple error message, a lot more people would be very happy by now
Agreed. Let's hope the chaps at Meeting-Air have another look here and see the harm done was not meant as such. But, in my opinion, it´s better to stop spaming this great plattform with this discussion
What attackP.S.: Out of curiosity, why this attack against Zeltweg?
The great show of Zeltweg, that I intend to enjoy again this summer, is full of commerce. And rightfully so, Red Bull planes cannot fly on just their own drink!
