Weelde (EBWE) - 2009
Hi Guys,
Last fridayevening there was some activity on Weelde. Somewhat heavy aircraft took off en was seen by a friend of mine. Still being dark, not possible to see what kind of plane it was, but he thought it was at least a 747.
Don't know if and even has been people to go there and drop some eyes, but the runway is 747-lenght and is opposite to the place where jets are overhauled. You will pass both (one left and runway right) coming from Baarle-nassau.
The most strange thing from friday was that the heavy one had a Blue taillight!! Is here someone which knows what about this blue taillight?
Jonnie

Re: Weelde
Serious answer: runway length would be sufficient yes, but width hardly and AFAIK there is not taxiway a 747 could use, and neither is there a suitable apron (unless recent construction changed this). In other words: you could land a plane that big, and then take it apart. 'At least a 747' is interesting as well, as it is still one of the largest planes in the world.Joris van Boven wrote:It was probably the PH-UFO, that Boeing 747 is known to have a blue taillight.......
Assuming someone is willing to share real info if availabel, this topic stays here for the time.

If this topic stays, i will ask if my friend overthere will keep a sharp lookout. Strange is, that the noise was slowly moving, if it should be a jet it had to be faster. If it should be testing from jet engines, the noise would not moving and the taillight, wasn't seen. Is it a joke from PH-UFO? I am a long time out of this spotting thing, did not keep up with any changes in the last 8-10 years. (listened untill everything went to 7,5 khz shift)
For Jimmy, think you should keep up not only the radio, but have a look yourself. Once in a while there is activity always in the evening.
Grt, Jonnie

Very strange Jimmie, it is that i don't live near Baarle, otherwise i would see for myself. keep me posted if you are seeing things overthere?
Re: Weelde (EBWE) - 2009
My parents live at 200 meters from Ebwe, from there livingroom they can see the runway, if there landed and took of a 747 or something like that, i am possitive that they have seen or heard it !
Many friends and college spotters live also very close to ebwe, when there is flying activity on Weelde, within a few hours whe know it !

Okay Boldy, just curious, think your parents then must have heard this noise too last friday?
Re: Weelde (EBWE) - 2009
I will ask them tomorrow !
Re: Weelde (EBWE) - 2009
My parents haven't heard or seen a plane last friday.
Believe me, if there has been a 747 or a plane that size at Weelde, i'd knew it.
Where was your friend when he thought he had seen that plane?
Maybe he has smoked to much pot ?

Re: Weelde (EBWE) - 2009
Hij was at that time about 4 kilometers north of Baarle-nassau, time was about not yet dark, but darkenough for not seeing the plane, around 17.30 18.00. Place somewhere along the bredaseweg (walking)

Re: Weelde (EBWE) - 2009
Well, whatever it was, it seems very unlikely it was a heavy taking off from Weelde as we see. Your friend was nearly 10km from that airfield at the time, so the interpretation of what a plane he detected was doing was possibly not correct.

Eric, i agree with you that it was very unlikely that there landed and took off a bigg plane at Weelde.
But if it was true that the friend was walking at the Bredaseweg at Weelde-Statie, then he was very close at he airfield, about 1 km.

Of was dat een vergissing?Jonnie wrote:Hij was at that time about 4 kilometers north of Baarle-nassau
Topic verplaatst, kunnen we lekker in het Nederlands verder, en het gaat toch vrijwel zeker niet over een echte Weelde-movement.
