Douglas DC-9 -33AF 47414 536 XA- Aeronaves TSM delivery 27mar23 YIP-SLW, N-reg ex N327US
Today, February 28 2023, Michigan Based cargo airline USA Jet has parked its last McDonnell Douglas DC-9 effectively retiring their DC-9 Fleet.

Before starting to park them, the USA Jet fleet of DC-9s consisted of 6 aircraft.

The 3 DC-9-10 series aircraft, consisting of 192, 195 and 196US,
have an average age of 55 years old.

While the 3 DC-9-30s, consisting of 205, 208 and 327US are slightly younger with an average age of 51.

The airline has opted to retire its smaller DC-9 aircraft in favor if the newer, larger McDonnell Douglas MD-88s which were acquired after Delta retired its MD88 fleet in June of 2020.

USA Jet was the first airline to take delivery of the passenger to freighter converted MD-88 Nov 7th 2021.

The new to USA Jet MD88s can fly the same routes the DC9s could but using less fuel.

The average age of USA Jets MD88F fleet is currently 32 years old.

USA Jet is headquartered at Michigan’s Willow Run airport and was founded in 1994.

Although the airline used fly passenger charter flights,
all of its aircraft have since been converted for cargo use for the ADHOC flights it operates.

The airline is a subsidiary of the Active Aero Group which is today known as Ascent Global Logistics.

In January 2022, the airlines first MD88F was delivered wearing the new Ascent livery to reflect the rebranding.

On top of the fleet of not retired DC-9s,
USA Jet currently operates Falcon 20, Boeing 727 and MD83 aircraft
as well as the previously mentioned growing fleet of MD-88s.

It is rumored that Aeronaves TSM, a large Mexican based cargo airline,
will take the now retired USA Jet DC-9s.

TSM currently operates 11 DC-9s and 15 MD80 aircraft on top of their fleet of 737s, Convairs, Metroliners and CRJ freighters.

Recently the airline took delivery of 3 ex Kalitta DC-9s in December 2021 after years of storage in Oscoda.
