This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

With these pics I just want to show you how it was to see a RAF Merlin being parked on farmersland in a small Dutch village ! The weather conditions were terrible!
These pics are unedit by the way...

Some nice detail shots could be made...
Berta21 was temporarily removed although her signs were still visible...

Re: Renswoude 22-06-2013 MIL
Thanks! The RAF Merlin was flying a new memorialflight (from Rotterdam) to Renswoude to honour 7 RAF pilots. They crashed during WW II with a Halifax bomber very close to this spot.Hans Rolink wrote:Good catch Ernesto!
Precautionary landing?

As the captain of that Merlin I'd just like to pass on my sincere gratitude for the amazing hospitality that the people of Renswoude showed our crew yesterday. It was an honour to be able to join you for the unveiling of the monument dedicated to our fallen 78 Squadron members.
Despite some horrible weather that was thrown at us as we crossed the channel we arrived back at RAF Benson just after 5 pm local time (2 hr 15 mins transit) to some much nicer, sunny English weather!
Once again, thanks for the great hospitality and for sharing your excellent photos; Officer Commanding 78 Sqn especially enjoyed the one of us over the memorial. Hope to see you again!

Just wondering, was it known in advance that this Merlin would come?

According to the Forward Air Controller in Renswoude, there was hardly any info to find before on internet...

Ah, now I see. Would've made sense to post that in another forum than just the RTM-forum...
