Isn't it dangerous to post pics from the base itself, because they normally aren't very happy when you make pics from the base itself?

They are not so happy if you can clearly see the infrastructure off the base. Same go's for Ram(m)stein.

.... and what about google maps? You can see a lot of infrastructure and fighterplanes in front of HAS. Or do you mean just take as many pictures as you feel like but just don' t publish the photos on the Internet?

Grtz,
Compare the Google Maps map to the actually situation. The images are very old.....btw, all the A-10's are back on deck since yesterday.

Hi,

Had that discussion a lot with german and us mil police: they don't like you to take (and post) pictures that show infrastructure....

In regards to the A-10s, they are returning during this week. First few on monday, some on tuesday and and a number tomorrow.

Regards,
Oz

The discussion of publishing pictures with infrastructure has been going around a couple of times on this forum. In the past I have had it a couple of times at Ramstein that we were asked to leave the area across from the main AMC platform by local police as the American security complained about the possibility of pictures being taken with infrastructure in the background.

Roel :respect: .....

I would have done the same, picture 2 and 3 are fine, even superb...
If one makes this pictures (1 + 4) it's for themselves, it is your own decision.
But posting them could be a problem for all aviation photographers!
Let's respect them who's jobs it is to "watch" us, if we "behave" we can enjoy our hobby longer...

Hmm... let's not forget a different perspective as well; if Scramble (magazine and website) would only include stuff that authorities like or approve off we would have to skip A LOT! The discussion about infrastructure is old, very old. But, if I look at Airliners.net, or type on a simple search string in Google I am overwhelmed with pictures that include a lot of infrastructure. And still, after all these years, it is still possible to take pictures at these places.

Had a quick look here at what we have in store on Ramstein that might be 'off limits' (for as far as we know). Found a lot, here's a selection:

I am not saying we should provoke for the sake of provoking. I am not saying that we should always show what we have. I am only trying to shine a light on the other side since I am not a big supporter of self inflicted censorship

Stefan
