RNAS Yeovilton Air Day 2011

Post by Macc »

At the opposite end of the country, having travelled 500 miles through the night, me and my Dad arrived at Yeovilton after an 11 hour drive. We went to the field early at 07:30 to find a good spot and arrived to the sound of jet noise which had us confused, after a quick look we realised the two MiG-29s had their canopies open and the twin stick was strobing. Soon enough it taxied out and went into its rehearsal in lovely morning sunlight.

Overall, a fantastic show. The French and Polish stole the show for me!
Duxford next.

Excellent shots Chris. I think it was worth the long drive.

What a wonderful show and a superb photo-report, thanks Chris. I've been to Yeovilton many times in the past and we've been on holiday near Elgin (for "Lossie" ofcourse) so I know both locations. To travel that distance for the Yeovilton show is an achievement in it's own right. So I suppose a big thank you dad!
Unfortunately I've never seen the Sea Vixen flying so I'm just that little bit jealeous. Please feel free to add some more!

Great report of a great show, shortly after RIAT. Some photos come out really nice due to the challenging light conditions.

Great set. No. 21 (topside of SEM) is my favourite.

Be aware the Apache flares shot has several dust spots visible.
