I'll tell you guys step by step how I edit my pictures. Ok here we go, let me say that I use Lightroom and PS4.


LIGHTROOM:

1. Import in LR (RAW file)

2. Select Auto exposure setting and see if it gets better, usually I find that LR makes him black, so I shove the BLACKS slide back a bit.

It is really about what you want with the picture, what do you like and what is realistic.

3. Clarity +5. no more else you will get a strange aura around the subject.

4. Highlights +10. In the Emirates, then, here you just look carefully what happens.

5. Lights +5 or a little less.

6. Sharpening is standard with me on +25, I always screw it back to +6.

7. Luminance +15 depending on the iso I used, I personally find this much better noise reduction than PS4.

Now my editing in Lightroom is finished and I can move the picture to PS. I click the right mouse button on the photo and select EDIT IN PS. Now he makes a Copy of the edited RAW file but in TIF format. PS For most users will start automatically, if not you do it here and open the TIFF file in PS.


PHOTOSHOP:

1. +10 Saturation.

2. Go to the round black and white ball (new fill layer) and then to brightness +10 and contrast +9.

3. To filter / sharpen / sharpen smartly. PS will ask to merge the newly created layer together, so click on Merge.
Now I use max 80% sharpening with a radius of 1.0 pixels.

4. Go to the round black and white ball (new fill layer) and then go to levels and press Auto, but with the Alt button pressed. If the result is not good you
easely go back and do it manually. Now if you look at the graphic, you take the two outer slides and move them towards the "mountain". If you look at the graphic you know what I mean. The "mountain" does not always look like a mountain, this has to do with the lightment of your picture.
Move the levels untill YOU like it and then just add the layer you have created.

5. Now I press CTRL W then PS asks if I want to store the picture .. I select yes and after some calculations my photo appears in my PS in TIF again in LIGHTROOM. Here I walk a little after the photo is ok, press the picture with the right mouse button and say Export.
Now I get a pitch where I can select the folder in which quality I want him (always 100%). Image Sizing cup and I set the "Resolution" to 300 pixel per inch.
Now expo-opt him so in the appropriate folder in Jpeg and your done!

This is the workflow which I use. It is already quite old, but still good.

Pre actions before starting edit:

01. Copy photocard to proper folder in Windows

02. Copy photocard also to back-up usb drive

Import in Lightroom (add to database):

03. Import Raw images in lightroom

04. Give the Raw's: 
    1. Keywords
    2. Pick/not pick flags
    3. Quality stars

05. Fill in the complete exif data

06. Run lightroom back-up script for library and copy also to back-up usb drive


Edit in lightroom (RAW edit):

07. Calibrate monitor (if needed)

08. Correct white balance

09. Adjust tone 
    1. exposure 
    2. blacks 
    3. fill light 
    4. recovery

10. Adjust brightness and contrast (if needed)

11. Adjust Presence 
    1. Clarity (not)
    2. Vibrance (0-15)
    3. Saturation (if needed)

12. Correct curve

13. Sharpening amount about 45 Luminance amount about 30 - 45

14. Export to photoshop


Edit in Photoshop:

15. Run noise ninja when needed (auto action)

16. Do anti alias sharpening using unsharp mask (auto action)

17. Correct horizon

18. Define the correct black and white point by using the treshold filter

19. Adjust the curve again (only if needed)

20. Add some extra digital pep in an adjustment curve by setting it to "Overlay" 
    and about 20% opacity, if needed (credit by Iwan)

21. Flatten image layers (auto action)

22. Remove all the visible jaggies

23. crop image to 2000 x 3000 pxl 240 dpi

24. Final sharpening by using high pass filter

25. Adjust canvas size 2050 x 3050 pxl background colour black (auto action)

26. Adjust canvas size 2150 x 3150 pxl background colour white (auto action)

27. Adjust canvas size 2154 x 3154 pxl background colour black (auto action)

28. Add auto text like date, location and photographer name (auto action)

29. Edit the auto text and fill in the tags which were generated

30. Flatten image (auto action)

31. Convert picture to 8 bits picture (auto action)

32. Save image as ....
