Spotting in Bali, any tips?
Hi guys,
I'm planning on doing some spotting in Bali this month (weather permitting).
Now Bali has seen some bombings in recent years, so I can imagine security at the airport being a bit tight. But how about the surrounding areas?
Does anyone have any recent experiene with spotting at the airport? Where to go?

Hi how are you?!
I was at Bali airport in August and so far it was the worst airport where I've ever been to considering the spotting locations. Take a look at the following link, it should answear to same of your questions. If not send me a PM and I will be pleased to help you out:

Nowadays you can not get as close to the taxiway as you could in the past so the big distance is the main obstacle. If security sees you walking on the beach and pass a certain point to will call and tell you to stay away.
Still, good variety of traffic...

How about at the airport itself (international terminal). Any places you can go without trouble (like restaurants, waiting areas etc.) and take pictures?

If you don't mind taking photos through glass, then there's a very good area on the terminal. It's located in middle of the terminal and it's a narrow corridor with big windows offering a view to the apron. You will notice it because the terminal is crowded of shops that obstruct any views to outside.
With 100mm I could fit a B737-800 without any problem. I wasn't bothered by anyone but I also didn't stayed there much time.
Best regards

Hi there,
Seen today 02-01-10 about 16:00 local, An-2 L-1821.
Also just outside the airfield something like a harvard B-427 preserved.
