Re: Surinam Airways expansion plans
Thats correct, but that story is a few months old by now.
It was going to be any (not specific ex-AF) non enhanced A340-200/300.
Scheduled maintenance would then go to CDG.
As there are not enough spare parts in AMS.
But these rumors change often ! Although not much news since.
The good old 747 should be gone by the end of the year !

that's for certain. if you see how old it looks in the baggage/cargo area you
would almost say it's to old to fly

I wouldn't call it spoiled; just want a plane to fly; the airline makes the call, not the audiencestreep wrote:Remember that we are VERY spoiled here in Western Europe !!

Brand new a/c is out of option but the challenge will be to find an ship fitting the requirements (for now some T7's are going to Russia and A340's are going for Argentina, Spain and Malyasia) leaving very few behind...
We'll see what turns up...

Thanx to CX and Skyliner.de found that A340-300 B-HXM is ferried to VCV for storage, some days ago; perhaps this bird becomes a candidate for PY?

Volgens mij moet de 340 nog steeds bij Air France vandaan komen, maar lets wait and see...

Re: Surinam Airways expansion plans
Hello guys,
I'm new to the forum and looking forward to join more conversations here. I would like to be informed about the Surinam Airways A340-300. When will it be delivered? I heard it is expected in October this year but don't have any other information. As per this discussion they will receive an ex-Air France A340-300? Is this confirmed?
P.S. I also speak Dutch coming from Curacao. You can watch all my aircraft photos on the airliners.net, jetphotos.net, planepictures.net and planespotters.net websites under my name (Roger Cannegieter). I'm very happy to finally have joined the scramble forum!!!! Fantastic!!!!

Re: Surinam Airways expansion plans
I have been told recently that SLM will use A340 equipment when the B747 is going to get a C or D-check at the end of this year.CURAviation wrote:I would like to be informed about the Surinam Airways A340-300. Source of this A340 not known and not yet officially confirmed.

Any progress they make is a step forward; the service costs are much lower then the 747.streep wrote:Whauw, it is a good 7,5 years younger than the good old 747 !

Just wonder if they ask AF for the scheduled maintenance or go to Direct Maintenance (as they are 340 and based on AMS and KLM hasn't recieved 340 certification)??
