Hi Hans,Hans Rolink wrote:Wow, Chung Chens with Communist nosecodes!
From which base are those?
Hans.
Yes they have a small agressor fleet based at Taitung on the east coast of Taiwan.
Your F-5 pictures have been made at Taoyuan right? I can tell by the Eva MD.11 which taking off in the background.
The RF-5's are withdrawn from service some years ago, the base now is a reservebase with F-16s on TDY from time to time.
Taitung is actualy the only F-5 base left on Taiwan, so a large fleet can be be seen there.
Kind Regards / Groeten,

Great guys, very nice topic and more and more to come
I still miss a few countries, and I know the Dutch spotters going everywhere in this world I would like to see some from Philippines, Mexico and Kenya
Dick, what is the significance of that patch on the Dutch NF-5B K-4008?
Cheers all,
Horror

The RF-5s are still active! They operate from Hualien (making Hualien the second F-5 base in the country).Wijgert IJlst wrote:Hi Hans,Hans Rolink wrote:Wow, Chung Chens with Communist nosecodes!

Hi Stefan,
I'm not sure about the 4th TRS at Hualien. It was transfered in 2005 to Hualien from Taoyuan. During 2006 it only operated a hand full of RF-5's, besides that also the 12th TRS was operating out of Hualien with F-16's in the Recce role. If I'm not mistaking, then they might have taken over this role completely from the RF-5's. I'm not 100% sure that the RF-5 retired, but http://www.taiwanairpower.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; does not mention it active any more.
Yeap, your correct about the Trackers on Taoyuan. Still living in 2006, keeping memories alive perhaps, on this one...Stefan wrote: The RF-5s are still active! They operate from Hualien (making Hualien the second F-5 base in the country).

They have always operated only a handfull (only 7 where converted to RF-5). In January of this year at least one was still active:Wijgert IJlst wrote:Hi Stefan,

At least 3 others were still operating mid-2007. AFAIK they are still 'on charge'.
Greetings,
Stefan

Hi Hans & Dick,
Love your Mexican F-5's. These are pretty rare to se, even though they are still current. But Dick, George's collection is truely amazing !! It must be great just opening any of his boxes and seeing surprise after surprise. It makes you wonder how we can be happy with just F-16's and Tornado's....
Anyway, here's a cross posting from the Agressor topic with five F-5 shots taken at Yuma in March 2006.
Cheers,
Iwan

Stefan & Wijgert
12 TRG at Hualien operates a mix of F-16's, RF-5's and F-5F's (although the RF-5's still carry their old squadron markings). At the open house in June there were a RF-5E and a F-5F in the static and in July these 2 were still operational. I don't know if any other are still operational.
