Boeing scores US.order for B777F

Post by YS11 »

The American National Airlines is the newest customer for the Boeing 777F. The airline has signed a preliminary order for four copies. These are intended to expand the existing freight fleet.

National Airlines currently has nine Boeing 747-400Fs in its fleet, in addition to a Boeing 757-200 and an Airbus A330-200 for passenger charters.

The twin-engine Boeing 777F can travel 9,200 non-stop with a load of 102,000 kilograms on board. The type complements the four-engine 747F, which has a payload of 108 tonnes.

777X
As part of the 777X program, Boeing is developing a new freighter with the 777-8F. With more than 8,100 kilometres, it can fly less far, but it does offer space for 10 tonnes of extra cargo. Customers for the 777-8F include Cargolux, Atlas Air, Lufthansa and Qatar Airways.
However, the development of the 777X series has been delayed for years, so Boeing recently received orders for the existing generation of 777Fs again. Production of the passenger version of the original 777 has been discontinued; KLM purchased the last units built.

Demand
To date, Boeing has delivered more than 270 examples of the 777F. The U.S. aircraft manufacturer expects global demand for 2,845 new freighters over the next two decades.
