Mig 21 en Su20 in het Airforce Museum

Post by Polleke_NL »

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but there is a military museum in Caïro with a small display of mil a/c. You will find it at the Citadel.
Here is what I saw on 23 July 2010:

Seen at the Cairo Citadel, military museum, on 23 July 2010 were:
MiG.21F13 (Fishbed-C) 5908
Su.7B (Fitter-A) 7320
MiG.17F (Fresco-A) 2481
Yak.18A (Max) 621
Trener Z.526 uk
PZL.104 (Wilga 35A) 254 (SU-AVE?)

I'm not 100% sure about the serials, but this is what I could find. The Sukhoi could be Su.7 though, instead of a Su.20. But I'm far from expert on EAF history and Sovjet a/c types.
Hope this helps...

Grtz,
Lucien

The aircraft I refer to are/were located outside the museum, which doesn't appear to have been the Citadel. They were easily visible from the outside as I took my picture from a driving taxi. From what I understand from other sites and forums, the Su7 is actually a Su20 but no serials mentioned but I don't know how to verify that as I also am no expert on Soviet aircraft types.....

Do you mean the museum along the road to the airport?
In that case: October war panorama museum
MiG-21PFS 8040
Su-20 7771

That's the one Witje, thanks for helping me out!! (It's been like 23 years or more since I took that pictures so I couldn't recall the name, I did know it was along the road to the airport though)
