Ah ok, now I get it. Ugly was not something that sprang to mind when I looked at the pic. Impressive or fiercesome is more like it.
However I can see a relationship to the word mother: you would call out for her when you find yourself on the wrong side of this baby.

Indeed it"'s an ugly beast that took an age to develop but hell what a beast it is. Fantastic picture of this ugly machine.
