Re: Last flight Hitec
What kind of last flight?
Is he leaving the Air Force, flying J-015 for the last time, taking up a staff function somewhere, is he suspended for low-flying over an admiral's (or general's?) daughter?

Re: Last flight Hitec
A bit of both for the first two options, actually: AFAIK, he's leaving the AF and (therefore) also the demo-team, after having completed the normal two-year term (remember Sheik did 3 years because there was no immediate follow-up back then due to the uncertainty about the future of the team). This means the team is currently without a pilot
The grapevine has it that a new pilot has been designated but the name is not released yet. It will be interesting to see how this pilot will work up for the new season without his predecessor leading him in..

Re: Last flight Hitec
IIRC that had to do with no new pilot willing to volunteer for the demo available at Leeuwarden due to operational Afghanistan duties that were coming up at that time (source: Sheik). Uncertainty about the future first showed up during Hak Hillen's exercise. (remember J-015 had only one year of being the demo-aircraft at the end of the Sheik-era, being painted with a special very expensive paint and advertised in the national newspapers (not only the Telekwaak) to fly in that colours for multiple years).frank kramer wrote:remember Sheik did 3 years because there was no immediate follow-up back then due to the uncertainty about the future of the team
Sheik is still in the Air Force (and at Volkel, which base should provide the next team) as the only demo pilot still in the Air Force that displayed the MLU version AFAIK.frank kramer wrote:The grapevine has it that a new pilot has been designated but the name is not released yet.
