Request: MIL spotting in Korea

Post by eriktex »

Hi all,

In a few weeks time I have to travel to Korea for business. For sure I will also reserve 2 days to see some of the military hardware around Seoul...

Obviously I will rent a car and go to Cheongju and Suwon to see some of the Phantoms and I have a question for that - which should not be too difficult to answer for you guys who have been out there: what are the best days to see some flying? I think I can spend a Friday and a Monday for "tourism" but how is the action on Fridays in Korea? Similar to Europe (not good...). And what about Saturdays?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Erik

Hi Erik,

Try to get hold of Scramble #308. This contains a lot of info on mil spotting in Korea.

Cheongju was no good on a Friday afternoon. Saturday should give some activity, although we did not encounter that. At least not at fighter bases, Seongnam is always active.

I'd bet on the Monday.

Regards,
Stefan

That's what I had expected. I think I will work Tuesday till Friday and then drive around Saturday till Tuesday noon... :-)

I will try to find my Scramble 308... AIM magazine also published several trips.

Cheers,

Erik

Euh...heeft er iemand een PDFje of scan van dat artikel in Scramble 308? Ben al sinds 1985 lid, maar wegens plaatsgebrek bewaar ik ze niet langer dan 2 jaar meer tegenwoordig :( .
