Forum rules
This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

Hi All,
Today I went to Gilze-Rijen during the Golden Hour. I was lucky, because there were three
Apaches ready for departure. Let the pictures speak for themselves

Because I was standing at the centerline of runway 28. Officially it's not allowed to stand there.vmd wrote:@bvdboomen why did they send you away?

Very cool Alex, the last one really stands out! The see-through rocketpods make it look as if they just unloaded..

Nice shots for sure, but may I be so blunt to ask you how much saturation you used to increase the orange colors? Some of them look a bit overdone in my humble opinion. I would have tried to decrease the saturation of the tarmac in the first shot, and the tree line in the second shot (both of which are easily done in LR -which I'm sure you used- with the Adjustment Brush). Just my two cents of constructive criticism..

Re: Gilze-Rijen @ the Golden Hour; 08-03-2011
@Grayburn,
Nope, was less between 1/100sec and 1/125sec
@DJ,
I increased the orange with an amount of 20 to 25%, not too much if you ask me. I aslo gave the orange a twist of Luminance of -20 to 25%. This causes the bright orange in the pics. The color temperature in the photos is between 6500 and 7000 Kelvin. My camera was already adjusted for this light conditions before I took the shots; it was a choice before I took these pics. I hope this answers you're question!
@The rest,
Many thanks for the positive comments

Very, very, very nice shots Alex. Thinking outside the box does pay off every now and then. You cashed it well.
Cheers,
Iwan
