In advance thanks a lot.

I've been there last year. I must say there's not a lot of military activity there, mostly civil.

You can search the web for it, but in short: props from all the local airlines (B1900, D228, ATR etc.), widebodies from India and the Gulf region, and helicopters. Also there is a plane graveyard, but that's hardly accessible.

KTM has quite a small (and old) airportbuilding with no spotting facilities in the terminal. There is an observation area but that's closed unfortunately. Outside however there's plenty of spots. I've even seen local spotters there, although it's more watching then taking pictures for most of them.

Alongside the fence around the airport is a mayor road, with quite a large 'sidewalk' (berm) which is used for practically anything, but which also offers a good place to watch planes. Keep in mind you'll be right next to the road, which leaves a lot of dust and smoke.

In terms of security: inside the terminal there's lots, outside it doesn't seem to be a problem. Just keep some ID ready, and it wouldn't hurt to have a small sum of cash on you, because you know...
