By Simon Hradecky, created Thursday, Jan 6th 2011 08:25Z, last updated Thursday, Jan 6th 2011 08:25Z

A Qantas Boeing 767-300, registration VH-OGP performing flight QF-430 from Melbourne,VI to Sydney,NS (Australia) with 214 passengers, aborted the climb and entered a holding when the crew could not retract the flaps. The crew subsequently could not deploy the flaps for landing, too. The airplane landed safely at a higher than normal speed about 40 minutes after departure.

A replacement Beoing 767-300 registration VH-OGS reached Sydney with a delay of 4 hours.

Qantas confirmed that the airplane returned for a landing at a slightly higher than normal speed however well within the normal range. The crew had an indication of a possible flap problem.

Yes it is... It is a Qantas aircraft, and as you know, all incidents with Qantas aircraft are news-worthy.... At least, it seems the press thinks it is news-worthy  .
