AEROFLOT

Post by YS11 »

Russia's flagship airline Aeroflot (SU) said it would buy 16 new B777 (8 200ER/8 300ER) over the next 6 years as it strives to plug the gap created by the repeatedly delayed B787 Dreamliners. The carrier said in a statement on December16th 2010 it had signed a preliminary agreement to take the Boeing planes over the 2012-2017 period, prior to the receipt of a fleet of the highly anticipated B787. SU did not disclose financial details, but the order has a list price of USD$4.1 billion. SU had ordered 22 B787 that are now nearly 3 years behind delivery schedule due to labour and production problems. SU said it had set up a working group with Boeing to bring about the delivery of 2 B787 in time for the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014. (Airwise & Flightglobal-ATI, December16th 2010).
