Incident: Ural Airlines A321 at Ekaterinburg on Nov 6th 2010, overran runway

A Ural Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration VQ-BDA performing flight U6-738 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Ekaterinburg (Russia) with 143 passengers and 8 crew,

overran the runway by about 30 meters while landing in Ekaterinburg at 04:25L (23:25Z Nov 5th). The airplane stopped on the paved overrun area, no injuries and no damage occurred.

The airline said, that the crew was told to expect good braking action, the runway however was covered with ice resulting in very poor braking action.

The airport did not comment.

An investigation has been initiated, investigators confirmed the runway was covered with ice.
