Another French airline is coming to an end.
Blue Line will be liquidated after Oct6th.

This is surprising since no known alert about their liquidities before this announcement.
Blue line is oprating a fleet of 8 aircraft ... of three different types :

2 A310 : F-HBOY (20C / 200Y), F-HBOS (78 Executive First Class)

2 F100 : F-GNLG (100Y) , F-GNLH (52 Business Class)

4 MD83 : F-GMLI (60 Business
Class) , LK (167 Y) , LU (20C / 110Y) , LX (54 Executive VIP Config.)

As far as i understand the google translation, it all started with corrosion on an A310 and the
early loss of the French team in South Africa also didn't help.

Wow if that's one of the main reasons: because the French team was playing bad at the WC and leaving after the first round, the airline went bankrupt...

How on earth is this possible? So they calculated some money in, for transporting French football fans. But obviously that wasn't necessary...

To add to the translation: it is (probably) untrue that the decision to stop flying came "out of the blue" ( ). The date of October, 6 was publicly set by a French economic court at Pontoise, who last monday ruled that the company was to close down by that day (Oct.6) following a period of more than a week (so, from the end of August) in which the company had already deferred payments and was under (publicized) bankruptcy protection. A receiver had already been appointed but neither he or the company were inclined to comment on the present situation.

All the French text is saying on the role of the World Cup is that it turned into a nightmare for France: first the demasqué of the French soccer team (if team is the correct word to be used here  ) and after that the nightmare has now extended to the company that had been carrying the team on a number of occasions. So, more a figurative way of speaking than a real link. Still, it might well have been that they had calculated on flying loads of fans in and out (perhaps even rented additional capacity given the problems with the A310) that did not come about following the early ousting of "Les Blues".

Of course it wasn't possible to make other money by flying fans from other countries to SA... (NOT. Mind: for the final Dutch fans flew to Johannesburg in a Spanish 747)
