Finnish Border Guard gets first AW119Ke

The first of four AW119Ke single-engine helicopters has been delivered to the Finnish Border Guard.

August 25: The first of four AW119Ke single-engine helicopters has been delivered to the Finnish Border Guard in Helsinki on the 80th Anniversary of flight operations by the governmental department.

The helicopters will be used to perform various tasks including border patrol, special operations and fire fighting.
The handover also marks the first AW119Ke to enter service in the European law enforcement and homeland security helicopter market.

Chosen in 2008, the aircraft will operate from Helsinki and Rovaniemi (Arctic Circle) bases, covering the entire Finnish/Russian border.
They are fitted with dedicated tactical equipment and certified to perform missions using Night Vision Goggles.
