As can be seen at

Always a pity for the owner and the passengers. Hope they will be ok.

Question about this bird. Was this plane ever used in an airforce somewhere, and if so, what was it's former serial?

Yes it has a military past. It is the former G-AMPZ and according to the booklet 'Dakotas and Beeches in Europe' (Airnieuws, 1993) that plane has flown as 44-76540 (USAAF) and KN442 (RAF I guess). No info on when and how long it flew with these registrations.
