While the international gathering of seaplane Biscarrosse nearing its end, the De Havilland Canada DHC-3 Single Otter ARGO this company at the event began its approach on Lake Biscarosse keeping the landing gear open. Indeed, the aircraft had departed a few seconds before the airfield Biscarrosse-Parentis which juxtaposes the hydrosurface.
When landing, the aircraft was then planted in the water and sank slowly as rescuers arrived on location. The most plausible theory is that the front wheels will be driven into the water on landing, causing the rest of the aircraft. It also seems that the owner of the aircraft was flying it and not the usual driver who operated on the site throughout the weekend.
Few people were on site and no victim is to be deplored. AEROWEB-fr.net finally confirmed that the passengers were not injured, except perhaps one that was transported by helicopter to the hospital to perform a radiograph.
The aircraft sank a few minutes later and is still currently at the bottom. It seems certain that the device, which belongs to Argo Airlines and registered SX-BIA, will be scrapped after being out of the water! The Otter had participated Songle first flights since Thursday and had been a success.
Such an event may be a little more at risk gathering Biscarrosse already undermined by the new European regulations.
Finally, the day has gone as badly for the metal replica of the duck Fabre sank a few meters from the shore due to wind, very early in the afternoon.
For information, the single OTTER has not sunk beneath the water as the buoyancy and the shallowness of the lake at this location will keep it off partly above water.
There are neither victims nor escape by helicopter as the leaves heard in your article.
The device will probably salvaged from tomorrow and it is unclear whether declared wreckage.
The back-up services have been very effective because the teams of divers have occurred in less than 30 seconds after the incident area.
As for the future of this event, this one belongs to local politicians, partners in the transaction and especially to visitors. Only time will tell!
