EHLW 14-04-2010
All,
Below a log from today's visit at Leeuwarden's Frisian Flag. Great day out, lot's of activity and above all, great weather!
Notes:
1. Logs are straight from the book in order of appearance. Most participants flew twice. Except for the Germans which only participated in the morning wave. And omse Dutch Vipers here and there
2. Unit designations are those marked. Especially the RNLAF ones tend to fly in pools so the actual squadron might be different than the markings worn.

Re: EHLW 14-04-2010
BTW read on another forum that the Pahntoms didn't fly in the afternoon due to problems with the ejection seats forcing all german Phantoms to be grounded. Any more info on this? Might have impact on the availability of the F-4's at FF

Re: EHLW 14-04-2010
At the end of the afternoon Norwegian Viper 668 arrived, apparently a new arrival for the exercise. Furthermore J-512 flew a mission as well (carrying 323 sq mks). This made me very happy, since it was my last one. Finally
Did the people who visited the spotters day also go the the north side? Can someone confirm which Phantoms and Polish Vipers were outside? I *think* I only saw 5 Phantoms out of the 6 present, and I still need one.... Same for the Polish, I'm not 100% sure I saw all six outside. They were rather difficult to count at the end of the afternoon, with the low standing sun in the face....
Thanks in advance!

Thanx for the updates. Must've missed those or at least the J-512. I will check my pics of today if the 668 is on there

Off all the 100 + spotters present yesterday I took the time and energy to post a log here and this is your reaction? Or did I miss a smiley ? I am sorry, I either don't get it or I miss the irony..Spine24 wrote:Just buy a book and a pencill instead of Klik Klik Klik Kik Klik Klik Klik Kik Klik ........nilsko wrote:Thanx for the updates. Re: EHLW 14-04-2010
Exellent report Rob, thanks for that! There's nothing to add and/or correct.
Patrick, regarding your Polish Vipers, they can be clearly seen and read from the North side of the airbase near the red/white radar. Just follow the dirttrack alongside the fence from the crashgate near RWY06. All six were outside. The Norwegians and Germans can be seen from the N357/Jelsum. We had the same problem in the late afternoon with the sun right in our face, but we definately counted 6 F-4's and 9 F-16A's, we suspect 668 was the one in front of the F-4's, after that came 8 F-16A's and the Polish F-16's (they have different tail lights).
From Bitgumerdyk (53 13 09.09N, 5 43 46.28E) you can see the F-15's and the F-18's but the F-18's are nearly impossible to count, there's another place for these to see. A part of the Gripens can be seen/read from the spottershill, for the rest you have to walk into the farmer's field/track from there. And finally, you can see all the F-18's from the South of the airbase, again this onvolves walking on a track in a farmer's field (53 12 54.08N, 5 45 17.17E), they probably can all be read with a good binocular.
Regards,
Klaas

From Bitgumerdyk (53 13 09.09N, 5 43 46.28E) you can see the F-15's and the F-18's but the F-18's are nearly impossible to count, there's another place for these to see. A part of the Gripens can be seen/read from the spottershill, for the rest you have to walk into the farmer's field/track from there. And finally, you can see all the F-18's from the South of the airbase, again this onvolves walking on a track in a farmer's field (53 12 54.08N, 5 45 17.17E), they probably can all be read with a good binocular.

Klaas

Why do you give this kind of information?
It is already mentioned here

This week the security gots so tired that they are serious thinking to close down the road to the spottershill, so again don't walk on the fields from farmers.for the rest you have to walk into the farmer's field/track from there. Hi Klaas,
Thanks for the confirmation! That means I made three more aircraft than I already was certain of

Re: EHLW 14-04-2010
Can someone help with the times and the serials of the F-16's and Gripens that came in just after the first Phantoms landed (around 10.20)? I think I misted 2 or 3 F-16's and 2 Gripens, I'm not sure. I was driving from the east side to the spottershill when these landed. After these the F-15's started to take-off around 10.30. From that point on I've got everything.
Thx in advance

The two Phantoms (37+26 and 37+75) landed at 10:18. This is what landed between 10:18 and 10:30:Whitecat wrote:Can someone help with the times and the serials of the F-16's and Gripens that came in just after the first Phantoms landed (around 10.20)? Looks like I missed 1 Gripen? The next Gripen I have is 39232 landing at 10:43.
Definitely more than just 2-3 F-16s. Eight different ones in 8 minutes, that would normally take a whole day at LWD or VKL. All times as taken from photo.
