KLM to end B747 D-checks at SPL
Haven't seen this reported before, but according to Dutch newspaper Parool KLM is ending the D-checks performed on B747's at Schiphol as of December this year. Reason given is the fact that this expensive check can be performed much cheaper in Asia, thereby cutting costs. This will not only lead to the axing of quite a lot of jobs (those in regular KLM-service will be offered new ones), but also less "foreign" B747's for checks at SPL ![Neutral :|](./images/smilies/icon_neutral.gif)

Who says less foreign 747's at AMS, KLM is apprearently moving to Asia, but this doesn't mean automaticly that other carriers will follow ![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)

Well.... Who else is going to do the D-check on those foreign 747's then? Nayak?James wrote:Who says less foreign 747's at AMS, KLM is apprearently moving to Asia, but this doesn't mean automaticly that other carriers will follow
Re: KLM to end B747 D-checks at SPL
Does KLM also perform C-checks for foreign carriers? Could the end of D-checks at Schiphol allow more C-checks to be performed?

The D-check facility will be rebuild, so guess it isn't possible after that.James wrote:Who says less foreign 747's at AMS, KLM is apprearently moving to Asia, but this doesn't mean automaticly that other carriers will follow

TAECO in Xiamen/XMN will expend their services (as quite some KLM planes went there in the past)SpotterNL wrote:Well.... Who else is going to do the D-check on those foreign 747's then? (Not Nayak; A/B checks are the max they can perform and only for narrow body planes)

There will bo no D checks here anymore, also for foreign 747's.
Instead there will be a maint facility for the T7.

This was already decided by KLM some two years ago, but kept out of the media.

KLM is, at least, performing C checks on the NCA 747-400 freighters.ehusmann wrote:Does KLM also perform C-checks for foreign carriers?
