Boundary Crossing Photo Trip Pics outside casual countries
Since I got some comment on a few (in my eyes) Arty Farty pics that I published with Arty Farty comment I deleted them. With the AF pics the criteria are clear and even written on page 1 but still people start discussing it, This type of picture is taken with a different thought than most 'normal' spotter pictures.. So no discussion is possible because everyone can take a pic with their own thought but there are always people who want to make rules and get support for them. So the AF forum is great and I hope it will be full of pics and no discussions.
But anyway; later I was asked to start a topic to show my pics again. I do not like to start a self beflekking forum myself but since I cannot show my pics anywhere else on Scramble I'll give it a shot and admit self beflekking is human .
Watertight criteria are important as proved above so;
* pic must be taken outside the casual countries of North America, Australia/New Zealand and Europe (read Asia, Africa, South America or Antartica)
* during the trip different countries in the area must have been visited, this makes it a bit more adventurous and diverse
If this topic sucks we will found out soon and it will be put asleep.
Thats all, I can wait to scan my slides.
first trip, a not so long ago (almost all) over land trip in South America (Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. I hope they are also a bit AF .
A from greatmothers time hangar at El Bosque, Chile
Most isolated and constant military aircraft detachment in the world? Eastern Island, Chile
Great spot at the IAP of Santago de Chile
Dramatic spotting from the terrace in Sucre, Bolivia
Flying in a CL.66 from Sucre to arrive here in St.Cruz
It is so romantic there that planes wear lipstick
A few km's further and higher weather can suck at La Paz
In Ecuador its not so relaxed outside the fence but pics are great (I think)
My first pic that I took being very drunk at Las Palmas, Peru after a MTV concert on base
Next day I was sober and the pilot drunk
After convincing the Presidential Guard (presidential plane flew) I came in pees I was allowed to stay on this nice spot
Just before sunset this small one took off
after I flew home

Re: Boundary Crossing Photo Trip Pics outside casual countries
Very nice! very nice to see something from that area at scramble.
Not sure if this applies to the topic.. But In the winter I visited the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah), Oman and Bahrain.
The most special (aviation related)photo I made during the trip was at Mascate, Oman. (Also my first front page photo at Airliners.net)
2 German Heli's in the port.
Taken from my Balcony at the Jumeirah Beach hotel.. A VVIP helicopter about to complete it's flight from Dubai Intl, Landing on worlds only 7 star Hotel, the Burj Al Arab.
Hope you like 'em!
Kind regards, Jeffrey.

Re: Boundary Crossing Photo Trip Pics outside casual countries
Hello, Carnaval is over, with a kater on the couch I worked on some pics of a 2008 Southern Africa trip. If this forum is out of the picture again I will put some pics from other countries that I visited on this trip (Swaziland, Lesotho and Mocambique).

before the show at Ysterplaat (prev pics) Stephan L and I visited most other military airfields in the country, the C-160's are taken from outside, a few months ago they where scrapped.
Lanseria is full of overhaul planes (HS.125 etc) and propliners. If lucky and with a lot of ... a visit can be arranged @ the gate.
For 24 pints of beer 3 pilots brought us 2 the platform at Swartkop.... We forgot 2 give the beers
c/n 001 if I am not mistaken
pic from Capetown IAP (standing in a slum....)
During the 3rd try we managed to get into Thunder City (speak 2 the crew chiefs, not the bosses......)
Stephan left for Holland after Thunder Valley and I travelled to Lesotho, beautifull strange spotting there.....
and after 2 Swaziland (sorry 4 the bad pic but the plane is special, the hangar also had 2 Alouette's). With luck you can visit the Air Force hangar in the weekend.
2 weeks before Stephan and I met a nice girl, I went back 2 here and we went on a date (in her sisters Audi) to Mocambique
This DC.4 just arrived with passengers in Inhambane.
A few days later I shot this BN2 which crashed a day later......
The An.26 I shot in the storage area on the military site of Maputo (with more An's and Mi8's and Mi24's)
Back in safe South Africa I left my gf and travelled to Rand. You can walk everywhere once inside!!!!
In my last hour before going back to Holland I stood in the Johannesburg aproach.
hope you like them

Very nice ''Stipjes''!!
I love it how you can get on the apron of those airports, it's just so ''happy''!
This is a very hard (and probably Expensive) Topic to interact in!
I can only join with the two pictures I posted. Never went anywhere Non-western before!
Hope some of you will join us with some exciting pics!
Have a good evening you all!
Kind regards, Jeffrey.

Thanks 4 yr post. I really hope that some people will put trips from the nineties (or 80's). I know quite a lot of spotters did trips in Asia and South America. Not western countries can be veryyyyy relaxed and you can arrange sometimes easy visits @ the gate (with good talking and enthousiasm).
Expensiveness depends on your way of travelling. You can travell by busses at night, eat the special offers @ McD and fly last minute. But having said that, your own car is also very nice and eating in a restaurant is better .
