20 August 2009 A tragedy was avoided on Wednesday afternoon when a light plane with six people on board made a successful emergency landing in an orchard near the western Macedonian town of Tetovo.
None of the passengers or crew were badly hurt.
The Macedonian registered, twin-engine Piper was en-route from Zadar, Croatia to the Macedonian capital Skopje when engine failure forced the pilots to attempt an emergency landing.
After arriving at the site of the crash, an emergency medical crew established that there was no need for medical assistance as the two pilots were the only ones to receive minor injuries.
Police teams and a fire-fighting crew are conducting an inspection at the site.
