British Airways flight makes emergency landing at Barcelona

A British Airways flight on route from London to Barcelona was forced to make an emergency landing at El Prat Airport this Sunday morning after smoke was detected in the pilot’s cabin. No reason has been given as yet on what caused the problem.

The emergency protocol was put in place at the airport as the plane came into land, with six fire vehicles called in from the Generalitat de Catalunya’s fire service. EFE said the aircraft touched down safely at around 9.45am and the 176 passengers were evacuated via emergency chutes, with no injuries reported in the process.

They were transferred to El Prat’s Module 5, where they waited until they were able to collect their belongings.
