Question about scrapped F-4F Phantoms @ ETNJ (Jever)
Hi,
In Scramble 359 I read on page 72 (in Mil news and updates) that the following F-4F Pahntoms have been scrapped: ( )
37+13 ex wfu ETNJ
37+39 ex wfu ETNJ
38+06 ex JG71
38+18 ex wfu ETNJ
38+20 ex wfu ETNJ
38+36 ex wfu ETNJ
38+37 ex JG71
38+40 ex WTD61
There are no dates mentioned in Scramble about the arrivals and actual scrapping of the Phantoms.
I visited Jever on 30 july 2008 and there were 7 F-4F's there and a Tornado.
I wasn't able to identify them. Are some of the scrapped F-4F's mentioned in Scramble a/c there were at Jever in july '08 or are these Phantoms that arrived afterwards and have been scrapped after the ones I've seen in july '08?
Hope someone still understands my question, get the feeling it's getting a bit complicated.
TIA, Per

I guess I know what you are looking for. I can give the post-ops details we have, but I still think it is a bit tricky to conclude whether you saw a particular a/c or not...

Re: Question about scrapped F-4F Phantoms @ ETNJ (Jever)
Went to Jever today to have a look on the current status.
5 F-4F were parked outside, these are operational JG71 aircraft. They were too far away to read off.
5 F-4F were lying on the dump, the one on the left hand side from the fence carried special mks. (A Phantom drawing and text: "Ein Langes Leben geht zu Ende", "222222 Sorties", "Decimomannu-Jever HWT", "13-02-19.. - 30-11-2007". Anyone for the identity of this Phantom.
Another Phantom tail reads: Luftwaffe F-4F 72-125. (last digit looks like 8 but I'm not 100% sure).
Still a very sad sight...

Re: Question about scrapped F-4F Phantoms @ ETNJ (Jever)
Yesterday I was at Jever and saw only 3 scrapped F-4's in a dispersal and 5 F-4 from JG 71 on the fightline. Anyone for the serials?
Many thanks
Ronny

Hi Ronnie,
There are lots of trees. Did you look from both sides or did I miscount?
regards, Per

Per,
I looked from 1 side (the side of the Hauptwache, Husumer Strasse, Buschweg). In 2008 there where also some Tornado's, now only 3 F-4's. From that side I also saw th 5 JG 71 F-4's on te flightline.

Okay Ronny thanks, so I did see three instead of five. I looked from the fence nearby.
