Plane hits snowy owl at Logan

Post by JS50557 »

A small commuter plane struck a snowy owl while landing at Logan International Airport last night, said Massachusetts Port Authority spokesman Phil Orlandella.

He said Piedmont Airlines Flight 4614, which is the regional commuter plane service for US Airways, struck the owl on the co-pilot’s side of the cockpit. Orlandella said there was no damage reported to the aircraft and no one aboard the plane was injured. The plane was headed to Boston from Harrisburg International Airport in Pennsylvania. The runway was temporarily shut down about 6:40 p.m. as authorities investigated the bird strike. It was unclear what happened to the owl.
