but which is the eighth person if there were only 7?

Shoud be the other way around, 7 fatalities of the 8 on board.
Apparently, one passenger managed to walk 1.8 kms with severe injuries before being found by rescuers. Initially it was thought that all on board had been killed due to the large area covered by wreckage.
Avherald has a good story on this.
