Hi Maurizio, all,
Indeed Retro88/89 are expected tomorrow, but ETA filed right now is 15.50z which is 16.50 local, and it's pretty dark by that time.
These are the only two for tomorrow. The will be brought to SP by 1 KC-135 with eta of 14.30z (so that indeed fits in with an eta of roughly 75 min later at Spang for the F-16s).
Both KC-10s are here for another upcomming coronet. Not for these two F-16s.
Kind regards,
Oscar

Falcon pregnancy problems
Funny story. We decided to pass by Spangdahlem Friday on the way back from Ramstein. At 1640 the landing lights were turned on, so we thought the two F-16 would be landing in a few minutes.
Nothing of the kind. At 1715 the lights went out again. It was dark and time to go home.
There are some issues:
1. Does Spangdahlem ATC turn on the lights because info on spotters sites says that F-16s are expected?
2. Currently all Spang F-16 are of the HARM shooting variant, will a different variant be added from Cannon stock? Improbable.
3. These mystery F-16s went sick and are now expected Wednesday!! There's even talk of a third. It seems one of the Falcon pair might give birth, which explains the increase.
Anyway, who knows another miracle may happen, weeks after Christmas.

Hi Ergo,
Nice you look so funny at it. Of course, time will tell. I'll try to keep to the facts.
For last friday, 2 F-16s were definately filed for Spangdahlem. Callsigns Retro88/89. No tails, place of original departure was Cannon, NM. Tanker was Blue39 and was at Bangor, Maine. Flightplan was cancelled during friday morning, and put on 24h delay. Also, the airspacereservation for their oceanic part was refiled for saturday.
Saturday, they cancelled again, as 1 of the F-16s went tech. Tanker should have left Bangor during the saturday.
Oke, now into the funny part or to guessing Personally, I would think that the 3 for tomorrow (Lajes) would be either 3 for 31st FW, or 2 for Polish AF (also expected first half of Jan) + the one for Spang that was still servicable. To me(!) indeed it seems strange that 2 for Spang became 3 all of a sudden.... But again, time will tell....
Regards,
Oscar
