UV Filter

Hi all,

I need a filter (diam. 67mm) to protect my front lenses.

There's quite some difference in UV-filter prices, from Tamron to B+W. Why I should I buy or not buy a low priced/low qual. filter? What differences can one expect using a low quality filter, compared to a high quality filter or not using a filter? Does it matter if you apply a uv-filter to a tele or a normal lens? Do you need a special filter for a D-SLR?

Indeed there is a lot of difference in the prices, but I think what you want is most important and how important your photo equipment is. Are you shooting with a 1/k or more expensive SLR, use a good filter that can sustain some dust/scratches. I just got a B+W filter and am sure it is the best. Differences to expect are differences getting dirt or scratches on your lens (when NOT using a filter) or a bad fitting one, the thing a cheap filter will do at least is guard your equipment against scratches, but UV protection is also important for your lensen in the long run. Your other 2 questions I don't have an answer for, as me myself am quite new to the DSLR stuff.
