Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Farewell KC-10

At the end of the afternoon an USAF KC-10A landed at Ramstein Air Base for the very last time.
The worldwide farewell tour of this KC-10 started at the beginning of this week in New Zealand.

Sad...... I like the sound of these triholers.
Why do they stop flying, while there older friends (KC-135) still soldier on?
They are more modern?
Easier to fly, easier to maintain? Cheaper to fly maybe?

One of the explanations I received was that, although the KC-10 frames are younger, most airframes have flown more hours then the average 135's. The KC-10 fleet was much smaller, putting the frames to much more flying hours as the KC-10's supported pretty much every overseas fighter deployments due to it bigger fuel load.

Not easier to mantain. More expensive and parts where a bigger problem then with the KC-135.

The KC-10 fleet also was less reliable than the KC-135 fleet. The KC-10s ofter went u/s at the wrong juncture. That's why a lot of deployments suffered delays.
