I think the whole point is that Putin wants to show his people what happens with traitors. Some of the video footage that is now circulating may actually have been made for that purpose.

At the very begining of the video, a white disrupted smoke trail can be spotted on the left. It doesn't look like a jet's engine smoke trail.
I have neither expertise or science in the field, but remembering of the USAF shoot downs of hot air balloons a few months ago, doesn't it look like a missile trail ?

I'm no expert either, but that very much indeed look so! Also note the smoke trail appears to have come from lower then the actual aircraft dwindling down at that point, thus suggesting it to likely be a SAM in that case.

As Hamarö pointed out, Valdai is a viable option in that case (knowing these S300 thingies could be mobile as well, but Valdai has several designated pads layed out throughout the base. The plane stopped tracking at 18:11lt (15:11UTC) on a north western heading. The video seems to have been shot towards the north east looking at the light and the smoke (trail) appears to have come from the left (the direction where Valdai is).

Just my 2cts in this plot.

Both with railway connection and even own railway station. The both railway stations have many sidetracks.

What is the use of these arsenals.
