Blue Angels bird strike at Naval Academy Commissioning Week

Post by aerobaticteams »

On May 27, one of the Blue Angels F/A-18E Super Hornet jets hit a bird during a flight rehearsal for Naval Academy Commissioning Week at Annapolis.
The Super Hornet, which hit a cormorant, landed safely with minor damage.

If my memory serves me right, a Cormorant was (is?) also a missile carried by German Navy F-104s & Tonka's... good thing the Blue Angel was able to land safely!

Hi Bennie,
this Anti-Ship-Missile was called AS.34 "Kormoran", which is the german word for Cormorant. Out of service since 2012.

A Super Hornet hitting a

in-flight would be bad news...

Joking aside, anyone happen to know the BuNo-serial of the "Super Bug" involved :?:
