Ansbach-Katterbach (ETEB) - 2013 MIL
I just noted that there had been no topic created yet for this year, even now the year has come close to an end. Let's change that!
Later this week I will be staying near Ramstein for a couple of days and I was planning to maybe go the the Ansbach/Illesheim region too. Has anyone got any clue wether the based helo's will be parked on their ramps during/after this Christmas period? I guess flying will limited or even out of bounds, but do they have the space to hangar all helo's or can one expect still lots to be parked on the ramp to be read off?
I'm asking because it is still a 2,5hrs drive (and back) from Ramstein to Ansbach and I hate to waste that time for nothing. Off course a LOG will follow if I visited the place.
MTIA,

I tend to believe so. Maybe not as much as during the weekdays though.falcon wrote:hello,

Re: Ansbach-Katterbach (ETEB) - 2013 MIL
The following was noted on Dec-27th. All where parked on the ramps waiting for a new year to come.
UH-60L A/5-158th AVn (CMD): (94-26)572, (97-26)763, (97-26)766 +2
CH-47F B/5-158th Avn: 04-08713, 04-08716, 06-08023, 06-08030, 06-08031, 07-08037, 07-08724, 08-08047
UH-60A C/5-158th Avn (AA): (87-)26004, (87-24)656, (88-)26075, (88-)26082 +3 (possibly also 89-26138, which was noted on 2/1/2014)
UH-60L, no mks, thought to be A/3-158th Avn (ASLT): (96-)26674, (96-)26675, (96-)26676, (96-)26677, (96-)26680, (96-)26685, (96-)26689
UH-60L, no mks, thought to be B/3-158th Avn (ASLT): (95-)26643, (95)-26651, (96-)26687
UH-60L, no mks, thought to be C/3-158th Avn (ASLT): (96-)26655, (96-2)26684, (96-26)686, (96-)26688, (xx-xx)866 (maybe new one for Ansbach; 00-26866?), (05-)27063
(05-)27063 is a new addition to Ansbach. So might Blackhawk 866, but unfortunately I wasn't able to read of the full serial. Any help with that one is highly appreciated.
A few other Blackhawks (AA & CMD configured ones) remained unidentified as I didn't feel like climbing the trees near spot 1 of the Scramble guide or because they were parked in front of a hangar. Still all in all a very good base for viewing and photography should be possible too if one dares.
Happy new year to all!
Cheers,

Hello Sjoerd,
I spent two days this year outside Ansbach. Photography is no problem at all, was my experience. THe crews were even waving towards me and were also hovering in front of me a couple of times. Photography is very relaxed and easy, from both sides of the runway.

Hello Sjoerd,
Can you confirm that you read off 27063 complete? (and not only the last three)

100%, only serials between brackets were assumed/looked up.cis wrote:Hello Sjoerd,

Hello Sjoerd,
Are you also sure on 94-26574? This one has not been seen before at Ansbach but was reported States side with A co /2-3rd Avn Jan12.

Hey Jeroen,
I rechecked my notes, but it was indeed a typo for (94-26)572.

Looks like that UH-60L's 96-26678 and 79 are no longer in use by US Army Europe. Can somebody confirm this??

Eric
