Thanks for your information so far!
Re that dogfight: back in 2005 the Mig-29 demo also did not operate from Radom itself
At least the Mig did a LOW pass over the runway (just like a "take-off") before starting her show... :bthumb:

tank'ss 8)
There should be no problem with taking shots from outside the base. Lots of people are going to do this on arrivals day.
How strict are authorities/(military police) during the show itself ?
There is a lot of backlight in the afternoon... :(
What do you mean by "how strict?" What do you want to do?If you are talking about taking shots from spot located outside the base - there should be no problem at all. Lots of people are going to do this also.

Yes - I am pretty sure that this time solo display will begin with the same maneuver unless "15" will be based in Radom - no information yet.
In 2007 dogfight ended with four low passes...Then pilots were taxing in front of public making funny bows with their aircraft...Remarkable moment.

Okay, if it is possible to photograph from outside Radom airbase on public ground/terrain then I'll be very glad. :bthumb:
In Holland for example picturing flying aircraft during an airshow from outside the show terrain is usually not allowed, and at times you can expect to be moved on by police if they find you.
Reasons that are given concern (flight) safety, even though I have the suspicion that the "safety factor reason" is these days rather being misused/abused by some Dutch authorities during events that do not really warrant the measures taken. Yes, the "Health and Safety Maffia Kill-joys" that spoil things over here in Western Europe at times need to be strictly controlled/reigned in/slapped on their fingers/wrists themselves...

Anyway , :ontopic:

Map is not mine - one of our forum users prepared it.
P1, P2 and P3 are spots outside the base.

Can I ask a different question, please.

There is now a lot more information on the show website about public transport. It looks as if the special trains into the base are for rail passengers only, while there are special busses (at normal bus fares) for everyone else.

My situation is that I will be arriving (by train) on the Friday and staying in a Radom hotel. I had intended catching the special train into the base so that I can photograph the wrecks and relics near the base railway station. It looks like it will be easier for me to catch the bus however as one of the special busses passes my hotel.

1) If I catch the bus, is it possible for me to walk towards the airfield train station just to see the preserved aircraft?

2) If I catch the special train, do I need to have arrived by train the same day?

Thanks.

1) I belive yes. Cause probably train will also go back - so people have to get somehow to airfield train station. What aircrafts are preserved there? Maybe you should visit Krakow Aviation Museum - I am sure you will find much more there;) It is only 200km ;)
2) No.

Thanks Borgyo for that info 8) - my understanding is that there are several preserved aircraft (I've found photos of SU-22; MIG-23; MI-24) - possibly more. They are apparently displayed somewhere near the base railway station. I've read in the past that these are only visible if you take the train - if you arrive by bus, you enter the airfield at a different gate. Perhaps someone who has been at the 2005 show can clarify? :?:

Yes, I agree about the Krakow museum - fantastic. I visited last year.

OK, another public transport question. There is a light airfield at Radom-Piastow, north of the city. None of the city busses seem to go that far north. Does anyone know of a bus I can take to check out the airfield? :?:

There are also some preserved aircraft near the main gate. When on the public area you can surely walk back to the main gate and photograph the planes there (regardless of where you enter the base)

Yeah. There was a very old Hind there...I'm pretty sure that you will be able to find him no matter which gate you will use to enter.
