New info from the L-birds organisation:
++++++++++++++++++++++
You must contact Deauville as the airspace is going to be very busy on the 7th, with all spaces up to 4000 ft allocated to us, the two Dakotas formation, and the Patrouille de France.
++++++++++++++++++++++
PdF is new information to me. Rehearsal for Sunday?

Does anyone have a list of all aircraft participating/rumoured for next week?
Re: D-day 06jun19
I had an issue with my camera yesterday, so pix were not sharp at all. I checked again and indeed these are the ones.michel N wrote:Marco, are you sure about the CH-47F serials?

Currently overhead Le havre, seemingly coming from Cherbourg and climbing is USMC KC-130 168071, now passing FL170.
Anything to do with the event?
edit: 168069 is flying next to him, same level. callsigns are OTIS81(?) and OTIS82

Seen on 31-5 13:15LT over Arromanches 1x USArmy UH-60 heading W over the beach. White s/n on tail but too far to read.
By the way: A13/N13 between Caen, Bayeux and Carentan plus several roads to the beaches will be completely closed for all traffic on 6 June all day (starting 06:00LT).

D-day USArmy FOB Carentan
USArmy Aviation have established a Forward Operating Base in a field near Carentan, between the city and the highway N13/A13.
On Saturday 1 June around 19:00LT we noted 4 CH-47 and 4 or 5 UH-60, some of which overflew Utah Beach some time before.
Happy hunting!

Do you perhaps have a GPS coordinate of this location?downwind wrote:USArmy Aviation have established a Forward Operating Base in a field near Carentan, between the city and the highway N13/A13.

Nope for the GPS, but it is the horse race track Hippodrome de Maurice de Folleville just northwest of the canal. Can't miss, already plenty of pics on Google Maps.

Re: D-day 06jun19
Local media report the Carentan camp as a Logistic Support Base for all US commemorative activities around D-day, so this may stretch beyond 6-6 into the weekend after.
Same media report as many as 7 Blackhawks and 4 Chinooks arriving at Carentan.
