Actually, I think it is organised for accredited press for whom last minute business-class airfare and chauffer-driven limo are not a problem. If you really wanted to go, and knowing something was happening, you should have planned accordingly. It isn´t really fair to blame the organisers for your oversight.medoc wrote:

You have a rather positive view on the travel arrangements of your typical journalist. Nevertheless, spotters or "aviation journalists" or usually rather low in the foodchain of a branch of the armed forces.Starman wrote:Actually, I think it is organised for accredited press for whom last minute business-class airfare and chauffer-driven limo are not a problem. Arrived in Rota today late pm, not a clue on the schedule and times for beach show on Saturday but did see L61 Juan Carlos off shore with around 8 AV8's on board.Tie ups and airshow times would be appreciated.

Apparantly there weren't may spotters here, but still some may be interested in the serials. In order of appearance:
Anyone for serials of the 3 (+2) missing Harriers and the 2 missing Sea Kings?
Erwin
PS I didn't bother with Team Tequila, but those did perform as well.

Not exactly very close, but still the launch and recovery of the Harriers was well visible. On deck were two more Harriers that didn't fly as well as two Sea Kings. At some point those had disappeared though. They either flew off while I wasn't watching, went below deck or fell over board...

Re: Rota 15 and 16 September 2017
Candidates for the two Matadors that remained on deck are:
01-916, 01-917 or 01-919. All others have been accounted for during the base visits on Thursday and Friday.
Looking at the aircraft that flew on Friday and Saturday, you can almost say for sure that 01-917 was one of them.

Re: Rota 15 and 16 September 2017
I have seen reference to a number of stored SH-3. I assume that these are the ones that were visible from point 1 on the Scramble airfield guide, behind the fire training area. Can anyone confirm/correct/add anything to this assumption please?

Please check your photos again )
The Guardia Civil AS365N-3 is HU.30-01/09-401 (10083), not HU.30-10 which is also highly strange for a new type helicopter (HU.30)

Re: Rota 15 and 16 September 2017
This area was indeed visible from spot 1 at the Scramble airfield guide. I am not sure if all airframes were easily visible from outside, they were parked cramped together.Freeman Lowell wrote:I have seen reference to a number of stored SH-3. Re: Rota 15 and 16 September 2017
Thanks Hans. I noted 4 SH-3 there back in February, and couldn't account for them as I imagined they were ex Armada. Now I know better...
