When I was AT the airbase in 2008 I found the remains of clusterbombs in the grass close to the runway. So I can imagine there's still some stuff lying around outside the airbase.

a translation of the russian information available via the link provided by JA37 (thanks for that!) would suggest that the "Russian Knights" (in combination with the "Swifts") and a supporting Il-76 are much more than just a rumour this time:

On July 25, 2012, Aviation Explorer – the Government will start up «Russian Knights» to Serbia and the People's Republic of China. The cabinet authorized for a departure. On this basis the license should be issued, reports BFM.

The government of Russia resolved a departure of «Russian Knightd» and "Swifts" to China and Serbia for participation in the aerospace Airshow China exhibition and in festive events on the occasion of century anniversary of the Serbian Military and air forces, is told in cabinet materials. Airshow China will take place in November, the Serbian holiday — at the beginning of September.

It is authorized to temporarily deploy Su-27, Su-27UB, MiG-29 and MiG-29UB, Il-76 out of Russia. The Ministry of Defence is entrusted to provide protection of state secret and office information of limited distribution, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia to coordinate with Serbia and China conditions for the deployments.

Because of non-compliance with bureaucratic instructions «Russian Knights» with two fighters Su-27 couldn't take part in an air show in Farnborough at the beginning of July. The group had no license of Federal service on military technically cooperation on transportation abroad military equipment. This document is based on the relevant governmental decree.

I doubt that the French will do a Flying Display with the A Jet, cause the Solo A Jet is withdrawn since more or less 1 year!!

That is correct, the French air force calendar lists a static Alpha Jet for Batajnica.

Does anyone have previous experience with this airshow? Is it possible to get from the city to the field with public transport?

There are frequent trains running from Beograd to Nova Pazova, from Beograd Centar to Batajnica and from Batajnica to Nova Pazova (Beovoz). Their timetable can be found at http://w3.srbrail.rs/zsredvoznje/?lang=en . In the weekend trains run less frequent. Also buses run to Batajnica, see http://www.expatserbia.com/once-youre-h ... 413-bg-voz and http://busevi.com/index.php?view=detail ... &Itemid=26 . There are buses that stop at the airbase (706E).

Mines near downtown Belgrade... I don't think so.

I just decided to go here, and probaly to Plovdiv-Graf Ignatievo on the 6th, transferring by train. If anyone has similar plans please send me a message. I'm into photography, not spotting.

Peter :)
Have in mind the open day at Graf Ignatievo will be moved to 06.10.2012.

It looks like Batajnica will not have a Romanian IAR-99 Soim display anymore:
