Not true!
This was the first approach of a B777 at Eelde. On the 1st of january 2009 PH-BQO did a low over (together with B738 PH-BXA's first flight in retro c/s).
You have to believe me when I write that this is the BXO over Eelde on 01-01-2009, cause you can't see any landmarks in the picture

Nobody will believe you!!
a) It is clearly PH-BQO!
b) It is clearly a B777-200 and not a B737-900!
Duh... typo

Not a first visit then? I am confused by the topic title.

:?:
It was not the first 777 overhead Eelde, but it was the first approach by a 777 at Eelde.
The topicstarter works at EHGG and cannot find any records of a 777 visiting Eelde, but... on 01-01-2009 Eelde was officially closed, so there wouldn't be any records of a B777 (or retro B738) visiting.
KLM did that 'tour-de-hollande' on 01-01-2009 to start the celebrations of their 90th anniversary and overflew the airport with both aircraft.
However... no radiocontact was made (airport was closed, remember?) and there was no approach on either runway. They both went more or less overhead the tower :)

Maybe a technical specialist can/will correct me, but to my belief B777 aircraft do not require any heavier maintenance than C-checks!
Your belief is right, this was a FC04 check (which is comparable with a minor D01-check) but indeed the T7 doesn't require a check heavier than FC04.

Thanks for the comments everyone!
Heron is right that on January 1st 2009, the retro B737 and a B777 that made a tour around Holland overflew Eelde. However, they didn't really come close to the airport, so this was in fact the first ever B777 visit at Eelde.

Thanks to the others for commenting about the checks and all, that was an interesting read.

TNCB wrote:However, official regulations say that anything above 500ft is an overflight. Hence my comments about the first ever B777 visit at Eelde (which is still valid).
Do official regulations also say that anything flying below 500ft is a visit? Wouldn't a visit require a landing? What makes your comments valid? I am just curious.

maybe off topic, but what is the difference between the classic HMV and the C check of a T7 today?
