Another rumour says flying indeed.... in a C-17 and then airdropped right over the museum...

At least it would save them the trucking costs to get it to the museumgrounds

And the American 32 TFS was a royal TFS.
They did understand it well.

A credo that still lives with Dutch crewmembers at Geilenkirchen !!

Please see for yourself.

Very simple John.... it is not PRIORITY!!! I think if you are so dedicated to the rich history of the Dutch Air Force/Naval Air Arm , you should go for some other much more interesting aircraft for the MLM collection like CURTISS Hawk, Douglas 8A, GRUMMAN Avenger or Westland Wasp (ex MLD from Indonesia...) THAT'S priority for MLM, not a Phantom.

Hope this topic will be closed soon, as we all know that the discusions about a F-4 to MLM has been endless :blabla:

Who told you a Phantom is not a priority? Or is it your own conclusion based on the fact it is not there (yet)?

I am a member of the so called "Friends of the MLM" and I know like many others that the F-4E issue is not strange to them, however they have several other projects running which have the main priority... as I told before long time ago in another forum on this subject, the MLM will eventualy get it's F-4... but there is no rush!

Cheers :evilbat:

All these mentioned planes would make a great addition tot the MLM collection but will be pretty hard and expensive to get.
An F-4 is the only missing crate in the 32nd TFS line up and should be easier and cheaper (ex GAF) to get than the earlier mentioned planes.

The F-4 is Soesterberg/Dutch history as well and a USAF(E) jet of which I have great memories.
Just love the smell of JP-4 fumes in the morning!!

Well there is a Westland Wasp in the tradition room on De Kooy (EHKD) ( no need to google the location :drinking: ) which could be loaned very easy without cost.

Actually, some remnants of ex Swedish civil reg Fairey Firefly SE-CAU (ex PP469) are now in the possession of the Aviodrome at Lelystad :!:

Whether it was the wise thing to do for the Aviodrome museum in 2006 to trade in their ORIGINAL Spitfire Mark IX H-53 / MJ271 / MH424 for cash and some "cast offs" of Historic Flying Limited remains to be seen...

It will take LOTS of time, labour and I'm afraid money as well to make SE-CAU somewhere close to "representable" again, especially as she was picked clean for the restoration of SE-BRG (ex DT989), also see
